What is an ADD Coach?
First, ADD coaches are “coaches” as defined by the International Coach Federation (ICF). In
addition to meeting all requirements and qualifications of a coach, ADD coaches have specific
training and expertise in coaching individuals affected by Attention Deficit Hyperactivity
Disorder.
What is ADD Coaching?
ADD coaching is a systematic approach that moves clients from a negative self concept to the
reality that they are capable of achieving goals through and greater self knowledge, skill
development and a commitment to self-improvement. Coaching typically begins with
education about ADD. The coach then helps clients identify their strengths and innate abilities
and begin to understand how to work through their challenges. The ADD coach recommends
strategies that clients can use to move through the obstacles that impede success and begin to
achieve goals one step at a time.
ADHD or ADD: What is the Difference?
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is a diagnostic term used by psychiatrists and mental
health practitioners. The terms ADHD and ADD are often used interchangeably for individuals
with and without the hyperactivity/impulsivity type. I will use the term ADD to include all
three subtypes; Inattentive type, Impulsive/Hyperactive type and Combined type.
